Helping Your Child in Class 1 to 4 — A Parent’s Guide

In lower primary, children learn best with patience, routine and lots of encouragement. Parents do not need to be teachers — a calm daily habit at home makes a big difference.

Daily reading

Read together every day, in Malayalam and English.
Ask simple questions about the story to build understanding.
Let your child read aloud to you, even a few lines.

Early Maths

Count, add and subtract using real things — coins, fruits, toys.
Practise tables a little at a time, through songs or games.
Talk about time, money and measurements in daily life.

Homework routine

Keep a fixed time and a quiet place for homework.
Sit nearby to help, but let your child try first.
Keep sessions short and finish on a positive note.

Class 4 and the LSS exam

The LSS scholarship exam for Class 4 is now held as CM Kids LP.
Strong school learning is the best preparation — LSS questions are based on the syllabus.
Add some practice with exam-style and reasoning questions closer to the exam.
Check bpekerala.in for official notices.
