How to Get Full A+ in Plus Two (Kerala HSE) — What Counts and How to Plan
Full A+ in Kerala Plus Two (Higher Secondary) means getting the A+ grade in every subject. Many students do not realise two things: your Plus One marks are added to your Plus Two marks for the final grade, and the written (theory) exam has its own minimum.
This guide explains how the grades work and gives a practical plan for aiming at A+ in every subject.
How Plus Two grades work
- Grades use a nine-point scale from A+ to E. A+ means 90% or more of the subject total.
- Each subject’s score combines continuous evaluation (CE), practicals where the subject has them, and the written exam.
- Your final Higher Secondary grade is based on the combined Plus One and Plus Two scores. A weak Plus One exam lowers your final grade even if Plus Two goes well.
The pass rules
- You need at least D+ (30%) overall in each subject.
- You also need 30% in the written exam on its own, for example 24 out of 80 or 18 out of 60. CE and practical marks cannot make up for a very low written score.
- For subjects with practicals, check your subject’s scheme with your teachers. Rules for the practical part are explained differently in different sources.
A plan for Full A+
- If you are in Plus One: treat the Plus One exam as half of your final result. Every mark there counts.
- Secure CE and practicals: submit records, assignments and projects on time and prepare for the practical exams properly.
- Finish portions early: aim to complete the syllabus before the Christmas (second term) exam, then revise in rounds.
- Practise previous papers with a timer and check every mistake against the answer key or your teacher.
- Balance entrance prep: if you are also preparing for KEAM, NEET or JEE, study each chapter for the board first and then practise entrance-level questions on it.
Subject tips
- Mathematics and Physics: daily problem practice. Write every step; steps earn marks.
- Chemistry: revise reactions and equations in small portions every day.
- Biology: neat labelled diagrams and exact definitions.
- Accountancy: correct formats and regular practice of full problems.
- Languages: practise grammar and writing questions. They are easy marks to lose.
