Kerala Plus One Admission (HSCAP) — How the Single Window Process Works

After the SSLC result, most Kerala students join Plus One (Class 11) through the government’s online single window system, called HSCAP (Higher Secondary Centralised Allotment Process), or Ekajalakam. You apply once, list the schools and courses you want in order, and seats are allotted by merit.

This guide explains each step in plain language, using the 2026 admission season as the example. Dates change every year, so always follow the official prospectus and notices on hscap.kerala.gov.in.

Step 1: Apply online

  • The online application opens soon after the SSLC results. In 2026 it ran from 25 May to 3 June.
  • Apply on hscap.kerala.gov.in. Students from CBSE and other boards can also apply.
  • Keep your SSLC (or Class 10) register number, mark details, and any certificates the prospectus asks for ready before you start.

Step 2: Choose your options carefully

  • You list schools and course combinations (for example Science with Biology, Science with Computer Science, Commerce, or Humanities) in order of preference.
  • Seats are allotted by merit, worked out from your SSLC grades, so a realistic list matters. Include some schools you are likely to get as well as your dream choices.
  • Think about the course first, then the school. Changing stream later is not easy.

Step 3: Trial allotment — check, don’t join

  • A trial allotment comes out a few days after applications close (8 June in 2026).
  • It is only a preview. It does not give you a seat, and you should not go to any school based on it.
  • Use it to correct mistakes in your application and adjust your options within the time given.

Step 4: Main allotments

  • There are usually three main allotments in June (in 2026: the first on 14 June, with admissions from 15 June; the second on 21 June; and the third in late June, with admissions from 29 June).
  • Check your allotment on the portal and follow the instructions on the allotment letter. Admission action is only needed once you appear in a main allotment.
  • Report to the allotted school with your documents within the time given, or you can lose the seat.

Step 5: Supplementary allotment

  • Students who did not get a seat in the main allotments can apply in the supplementary allotment for the remaining vacancies (from 13 July in 2026).
  • Read the list of vacant seats carefully and choose options where seats are actually available.
