CUET UG 2027 for Kerala Students — What It Is, Dates and How to Prepare
CUET-UG (Common University Entrance Test) is the national entrance test, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), for undergraduate admission to central universities and many other universities. For Kerala students it matters most if you want a degree at a central university, such as the Central University of Kerala or universities in Delhi and other states.
This guide explains who needs CUET, when to expect the 2027 dates and how to prepare without hurting your Plus Two board exam. The official 2027 notification had not been released as of 6 November 2026.
Do you need CUET?
- Yes, if you want admission to a central university (for example the Central University of Kerala in Kasaragod, Delhi University, JNU or the Central University of Tamil Nadu) or another university that has chosen to use CUET scores.
- Usually not for most degree admissions in Kerala’s state universities and their colleges, which admit students mainly on Plus Two marks through their own allotment.
- Check each university’s admission notice: some courses need specific CUET subjects.
When to expect CUET UG 2027
- In 2026, CUET-UG was held in May (roughly 11 to 31 May), and results came around July.
- For 2027, registration is expected around January–February 2027 and the exam around May–June 2027. These are expected timings, not official dates: watch cuet.nta.nic.in.
How the test works
- A computer-based test with multiple-choice questions. You choose the tests you need, up to five subjects, based on the courses you are applying for.
- Tests cover languages (such as English and Malayalam), domain subjects that match your Plus Two subjects (such as Accountancy, Economics, History, Physics or Mathematics) and a general test for some courses.
- Each test has 50 compulsory questions in 60 minutes. Each correct answer gets 5 marks and each wrong answer loses 1 mark, so avoid blind guessing. In 2026 there were 37 subjects in all: 13 languages, 23 domain subjects and the General Aptitude Test (CUET UG 2026 bulletin).
How to prepare alongside Plus Two
- The domain tests follow the Class 12 NCERT syllabus, so strong board preparation covers most of it.
- From January, add timed multiple-choice practice in each chosen subject, one or two short tests a week.
- For the language test, practise reading comprehension and vocabulary. For the general test, keep up with current affairs and basic numerical ability.
- After the board exam in March, switch to full-time CUET practice with mock tests until the exam.
