Law After Plus Two in Kerala — CLAT 2027, KLEE and the Five-Year LLB
A five-year integrated LLB (such as BA LLB) is open to Plus Two students from any stream: Science, Commerce or Humanities. In Kerala there are two main entrance routes: CLAT for the National Law Universities, including NUALS in Kochi, and the Kerala Law Entrance Examination (KLEE) for law colleges under the state allotment.
This guide explains both, with the official CLAT 2027 date, and a plan for the last month before CLAT. Always check the official notices before you decide.
CLAT 2027: key dates
- CLAT 2027 is on Sunday, 6 December 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, as announced by the Consortium of National Law Universities.
- Applications ran from 3 August to 31 October 2026, so registration has closed. Admit cards, the answer key and results are announced on consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
- CLAT scores are used by the National Law Universities, including the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi, and by several other law schools. NUALS also has a separate NRI admission route.
The CLAT UG paper
- The Consortium said there will be no change to the syllabus and the sections of the UG paper in CLAT 2027.
- The paper has 120 multiple-choice questions in two hours. Each correct answer gets 1 mark and each wrong answer loses 0.25 marks.
- It has five sections: English language, current affairs including general knowledge, legal reasoning, logical reasoning and quantitative techniques. Most questions are based on reading passages, so fast, careful reading is the key skill.
KLEE: the Kerala law entrance
- The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala conducts KLEE for the three-year and five-year LLB courses in Kerala law colleges under the state allotment.
- In 2026 the KLEE was a computer-based test held on 28 June, with applications in June. It comes after the Plus Two results, so it is a second chance for students who do not get an NLU seat through CLAT.
- Watch cee.kerala.gov.in for the KLEE 2027 notification; it is announced separately from KEAM.
A last-month plan for CLAT (November)
- Every day: one sectional set of reading passages (legal or logical reasoning, alternating) and 20 minutes of current affairs from a newspaper, noting the main national and international events of 2026.
- Twice a week: a full two-hour mock, then review every wrong and skipped question. Because of the 0.25 negative mark, learn when to skip.
- Quantitative techniques: revise percentages, ratios, averages and reading tables and graphs; these are Class 10-level ideas.
- Keep your Plus Two Christmas and model exam preparation going too: your Plus Two marks matter for eligibility and for KLEE.
