Which Entrance Exams Should Kerala Plus Two Students Write? KEAM, NEET, JEE, CUET and More

Plus Two students in Kerala hear about many entrance exams at once: KEAM, NEET, JEE, CUET, CLAT and more. Each one leads to different courses and has its own months for registration and the exam, so it helps to see them side by side.

This guide is a simple map, with links to our detailed guide for each exam. Always confirm dates on the official websites, because they change every year.

For engineering

KEAM (CEE Kerala): for engineering seats in Kerala. The rank uses your KEAM score and Plus Two Physics, Chemistry and Maths marks; the exam is usually in April. See the KEAM 2027 guide and allotment guide.
JEE Main (NTA): for NITs, IIITs and other central institutes, and the first step to JEE Advanced for IITs. Session 1 is in January (registration closes in November) and session 2 in April. See the JEE Main 2027 guide.
Many Maths students write both: the syllabus overlaps, and the board exam counts for both (KEAM marks and the 75% rule for NITs).

For medical and allied courses

NEET-UG (NTA): for MBBS and BDS, and in Kerala also for Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Agriculture, Veterinary, Fisheries and other allied courses through CEE. Usually in early May. Register with CEE through the KEAM application too. See the NEET 2027 guide and NEET courses in Kerala.
B.Sc Nursing and paramedical (LBS Centre): in 2026 the rank list used Plus Two Physics, Chemistry and Biology marks, with no entrance test. See the nursing and paramedical guide.

For architecture and pharmacy

B.Arch: qualify NATA and register for B.Arch in KEAM.
B.Pharm: the KEAM pharmacy paper (Physics and Chemistry), held in April.
See the B.Arch and B.Pharm guide.

For degrees, law and other routes

CUET-UG (NTA): for central universities, including the Central University of Kerala; usually May. Most Kerala state university degrees are admitted on Plus Two marks instead. See the CUET guide and four-year degree guide.
CLAT for national law universities (held in December, before the Plus Two exam) and the Kerala LLB entrance by CEE. See law after Plus Two: CLAT and KLEE.
Commerce routes such as CA, CMA and CS have their own foundation and entrance tests; see courses after Commerce.
NDA (UPSC) for the Army, Navy and Air Force: notification in December, exam in April (and a second exam in September). See the NDA after Plus Two guide.
IISER Aptitude Test (BS-MS at the IISERs, including IISER Thiruvananthapuram) and NEST (integrated MSc at NISER and CEBS) for science research, usually in June. See the IISER and NEST guide.
NCHM JEE (NTA) for hotel management, open to any stream: registration around December–January, exam in April. See the hotel management guide.

A simple year plan
